CRYSTAL SUGAR LOCKOUT!

ON TUESDAY, LOCKED OUT BCTGM WORKERS AT AMERICAN CRYSTAL SUGAR VOTED AGAIN ON AN AMENDED FINAL CONTRACT.  IT WAS THE SAME CONTRACT AMERICAN CRYSTAL SUGAR MANAGEMENT HANDED THEM BACK IN JULY, WITH A FEW MINIMAL CHANGES.  THEY VOTED WITH AN OVERWHELMING 90% TO REJECT THE CONTRACT AGAIN!

WORKERS CONTINUE TO ASK FOR JOB SECURITY AND DEPENDABLE, AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE THAT ALLOWS THEM TO RAISE FAMILIES.

THAT'S WHY WE'RE TURNING UP THE HEAT ON CRYSTAL SUGAR.

WE'VE LEARNED THAT AMERICAN CRYSTAL SUGAR'S CEO, DAVE BERG, IS TRUSTEE AND CHARI-ELECT OF CASS-CLAY COUNTY'S UNITED WAY.  IT IS A CONTRADICTION THAT DAVE BERG HOLDS THIS POSITION BECAUSE HE CARES ABOUT THE COMMUNITY YET HE IS DELIBERATELY CAUSING HARM TO THE COMMUNITY BY LOCKING OUT WORKERS.

WILL YOU CALL UNITED WAY?

PLEASE DIRECT YOUER CALL TO SHERRI THOMSEN, PRESIDENT OF UNITED WAY OF CASS-CLAY AT (701) 237-5050.

THIS IS THE MESSAGE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO RELAY TO THEM:

"I AM ASKING THE UNITED WAY TO ASK DAVE BERG TO END THE LOCKOUT.  IF HE DOESN'T, I WANT HIM REMOVED FROM HIS POSITION AS TRUSTEE AND CHAIR-ELECT OF THE UNITED WAY BOARD.  HE IS CAUSING WIDE SPREAD ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DESTRUCTION OF COMMUNITIES AND FAMILIES WITH HIS LOCKOUT OF 1,300 WORKERS."

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

A NOTE OF THANKS FROM INTERNATIONAL!
